Jeniveve has been described as AMAZING. After reading her interview and looking at her other photos on the board, we think you may just agree with them.
TER: What’s the best thing about this job? What is the worst?
Jeniveve: The best thing is the opportunities it affords you through meeting new people – clients and other providers alike. I have travelled more in the past two years through this experience than I have my entire 26 years of life!
TER: What sort of qualities do you think one needs to possess or cultivate to be successful in this business?
Jeniveve: Intuition is a really important factor in this hobby whether it kicks in during screening or during a date, one needs to be able to read their partner and adjust the session accordingly, to make it pleasurable and safe for both people involved. Also patience – I would say about 30% of my email responses are directing people to my site for my calendar with availabilities or answers their questions. So patience, without a doubt.
TER: How did you get into this business? Anything you wished you had known when you started?
Jeniveve: I got into this business about two and a half years ago right after I moved to the Bay Area and realized how incompatible living comfortably in the Bay, while going to school at the same time is! So I basically decided to start working smarter not harder. I think I tested the seas pretty successfully on my own initially. Like I said, I’m a nerd so I did a lot of research and reading about the hobby, screening, etc before I made the jump.
TER: Do your family and friends know what you do? If so, what were there reactions?
Jeniveve: The majority of my immediate family knows and basically all of my friends. The way I see it, if you have a huge moral qualm about what I do for a living you are probably uptight and we wouldn’t be good friends in the long run regardless! I have only had one negative reaction so far from a friend and it was brief and fleeting so I have been lucky in that regard I suppose.
TER: What are your passions outside of the business?
Jeniveve: I’m a bit of a DIY nerd so on the rare occasion I get some free time between school and my research fellowship I love to do pinterest projects and I absolutely LOVE to cook and garden as well, although the rainy season has all but washed my garden away these past few weeks.
TER: What is the best concert you have attended?
Jeniveve: What is the best concert you have attended?
TER: Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Jeniveve: I enjoy a nice cold beer after a long day although I have been trying to cut back this year.
TER: What percentage of your day is taken up by hobby-related activities, that aren’t the actual session?
Jeniveve: Oh geez, at least 20%. This is very much part time for me as I am in school time working on a thesis but admin takes up far far far more time than I think a lot of gents on the other side realize.
TER: Any heroes/people you look up to and why?
Jeniveve: I am a huge fan of the French philosopher Michel Foucault for rewiring the way I view power relations in daily life. I also love the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu for his concept of habitus and perspective.
TER: Do you have any hidden talents?
Jeniveve: I used to be an exotic dancer in Las Vegas, San Francisco, and New York so I have a few tricks up my sleeve.

Jeniveve: Tenacious, empathetic, resourceful. How do you relax after a long day, or are you already pretty relaxed?
TER: How do you relax after a long day, or are you already pretty relaxed?
Jeniveve: Scotch neat and a scalp massage please!
TER: Do you travel a lot? What has been your favorite place to visit so far? Where do you want to visit and why?
Jeniveve: I did travel more before I started my thesis but I took my sister to Paris and Iceland last summer and we had an AMAZING time. I really want to visit Brazil, Spain, the Maldives, Mauritus, Italy, Australia and Amsterdam in the future! All in good time.
TER: What is your favorite food?
Jeniveve: Omg Italian and Mexican food without a doubt. It’s all about the cheese baby!
TER: What do you do in your free time?
Jeniveve: Free time, pfffft… who has that luxury! No I’m just kidding, when I do have free time I like to make day trips- Whether up to San Francisco or down to Big Sur, it all depends on the mood. But I love little refresher trips like that to detach and recenter myself when things are stressful.
TER: Anything else you would like to tell members about yourself?
Jeniveve: I never thought this industry would allow me the opportunities and advantages it has thus far. I’ve met some phenomenal clients and providers who have become friends alike on top of securing my financial situation and allowing me to graduate college with no debt. I am super grateful for my experience thus far and don’t see myself slowing down anytime in the foreseeable future!
Our runner-up for February is Jennifer James . Congratulations!
